After a 5-0 win over Southwest Edgecombe on Tuesday, the varsity boys soccer team looked to propel its success on Wednesday afternoon against Corinth Holders. The Bulldogs were in for the tough fight, however. The Bulldogs couldn’t handle the speed of the Pirates as they faced a five-goal deficit at the half. Much like the first half, the second half didn’t go as planned for Nash Central as well. After a resilient effort, the Bulldogs fell 9-0 to Corinth Holders. Nash Central’s JV boys soccer team also gave Corinth Holders a valiant effort, but the Bulldogs would fall 9-0. Nash Central is now 1-2, but the season is still young and the Bulldog have plenty of opportunities to make the proper adjustments. The Bulldogs will face Smithfield-Selma on the road on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs girls tennis team was back at it again on Wednesday. Nash Central was impressive again, beating Tarboro 7-2. Hannah Whitehead and Michalah Matthews were both exceptional in singles play. Whitehead beat Grace Whitehead 8-0 while Matthews defeated Cookie Darden by the same score. Ashleigh Lamb also continued her excellence, winning against Hope Whitehurst by a score of 8-5. Haley Baker and Madison Wall also exhibited a high-level of play. Baker defeated Alexis Harper 8-4. On the other hand, Wall was victorious 8-4 against Ashley Perkins. Kaley Sharpe also gave it her all, but fell 8-0 to Tarboro’s Kaylyn Norville. In doubles play, Nash Central’s duo of Silver and Whitehead fell to Tarboro’s combo of Whitehead and Whitehurst 7-8.  However, the team of Matthews and Lamm was successful, beating Tarboro’s Darden and Harper. To wrap up Wednesday action, the du0 of Haley Baker and Madison Wall defeated the team of Perkins and Lathan. The undefeated Bulldogs will take a break for the rest of the week and will wait until September 2nd to face North Johnston on the road.
