Nash Central Battles Hard

On Thursday night, the Nash Central football and soccer teams both played well. However, unfortunately, neither team was able to claim victory. Both teams played with heart and passion, and the Bulldogs definitely left it all on the field.

Nash Central football led 12-6 at the half and then 18-6 at one point in the 3rd quarter. Despite this, the Bulldogs defense wasn’t able to hold strong. North Johnston’s offense came into play and wouldn’t stop. The Panthers scored twice and took a 19-18 lead. Nash Central’s offense wasn’t able to score, and the Bulldogs would go on to fall 19-18. Nash Central still has a lot to be proud of, and the 1-2 Bulldogs will look forwarding to bouncing back in a special commemorative home game next Friday night against Southwest Edgecombe.

Bulldogs soccer also gave it their all. The team was energized and ready to play. At one point, Tarboro led 2-0, but this didn’t stop Nash Central. The Bulldogs battled and were able to cut the deficit. However, time wouldn’t permit Nash Central to do much more. The Bulldogs are now 1-4 and will look to turn matters around Wednesday, September 9th against North Johnston.

On the bright side, senior golfers Hannah Sasser and Sara Joyner were exceptional on Thursday. Sasser improved by 2 strokes and finished 7th overall. Joyner improved by 9 strokes and finished 4th overall. Rocky Mount, Hunt, Fike and Southern Nash were the other schools at the match to go along with eighteen total golfers.

In all, Nash Central’s effort was extraordinary on Thursday night, and this something we should all be proud of.
