When the Nash Central girl’s tennis team stepped onto the tennis courts of Hunt High School on Tuesday afternoon, the Lady Bulldogs were getting ready to play it’s first game since Wednesday, September 23rd.
Even after a 13-game layoff, Nash Central played well, but the Lady Bulldogs did, however, come up a bit short against the Hunt Warriors. Michalah Matthews and Haley Baker were the only Bulldogs who were victorious on Tuesday. Matthews defeated Lacy Timmerman 4-6, 6-4, and 12-10. On the other hand, Baker defeated Madison Hux 7-5, 6-1. Kayley Sharpe, Hannah Whitehead, Ashleigh Lamb, and Madison Wall also exhibited great effort, but these ladies weren’t able to hold off the Warriors. Sharpe fell to Jordan Brick 0-6, 0-6 while Whitehead lost to Morgan Loftin 0-6. 0-6. In addition, Lamb fell to Bryson Lee 1-6, 1-6 and Wall fell to Anna Dollar 2-6, 1-6.
In doubles play, Nash Central, unfortunately, was swept. The team of Sharpe/Whitehead fell to the pair of Brick/Barnes 3-8. The duo of Matthews/Lamm also fell to the team of Timmerman/Miller 3-8. Lastly, the combo of Wall/Silver fell to the pair of Harris/Dollar.
Nash Central is now 7-6 with a 1-6 record in the Big East. The Lady Bulldogs will next play Fike at home on Wednesday, October 7th.
