Nash Central High School and Northern Nash High School are participating in the inaugural Sandy Frazler State Farm Cup competition for the 2015-2016 athletic season.
This contest will involve Bulldog and Knight varsity athletic teams, and points will be awarded for head-to-head victories. Each win will be awarded one point while a tie will be awarded half a point. After the completion of the spring athletic season, the winner of the contest will be decided in May 2016. The winner of the award will be recognized during the varsity football game between Nash Central and Northern Nash in the fall of 2016. This is an annual event, and it will only spice up the already fierce rivalry between Nash Central and Northern Nash.
After the completion of the fall athletic season a few weeks ago, Northern Nash holds a slight lead over Nash Central in the point count. The Knights have earned 5.5 points while Nash Central has garnered 3.5 points. Lady Bulldogs girls tennis ended the season with a 2-0 lead over the Lady Knights while the Lady Bulldogs volleyball team tied 1-1 with the Lady Knights volleyball team. On the other hand, Nash Central football fell behind 0-2 and Nash Central soccer came up short .5 to 1.5. Boys and girls cross country also fell behind 0-1 to Northern Nash.
However, the Bulldogs are still definitely in the running, and Nash Central will look to have a tremendous winter and spring athletic season to take the lead and emerge victorious.
