There was plenty action at Nash Central High School on Thursday afternoon. With multiple Bulldog athletic teams in action, it was definitely a great day to be a Bulldog.
Nash Central boys soccer was able to end its game against Southwest Edgecombe in a 2-2 draw. The Bulldogs were down early, but a scoring frenzy helped Nash Central come back. Freshman Adam Abdelhadi and senior Cameron Flora were key in this comeback as Abdelhadi and Flora both scored on Thursday afternoon. When asked in regards to Thursday’s performance, Nash Central head coach Ryan Ruiz remarked that “We took several shots, they were just not going in”. Ruiz also stated that “We had to have set a record with 40+ shots though, just didn’t connect”.The Bulldogs are now 1-5-1 and will next play Bunn High School on the road on Tuesday, September 15th.
Girls tennis was also in play for the third straight afternoon. Unfortunately, it seems that the exhaustion of playing back-t0-back-t0-back matches finally caught up to the Bulldogs. Nash Central fell 9-0. In spite of this, the Bulldogs are still 5-2 in 2025 while having a 0-2 record in Big East play.
The varsity and JV volleyball teams were also in action against Fike on Thursday afternoon. JV played well, but the Bulldogs weren’t able to overcome the Fike Demons. JV would go on to lose 1-2 in 3 sets. The varsity volleyball team also played valiantly but fell 0-3. The Bulldogs will next play Smithfield-Selma on the road on Monday, September 14th.
