King Luie To Take Over The Monarchy

After Nash Central senior Luis Rolon took his last snap on the football field as a Nash Central Bulldog this past fall, he began to fully immerse himself in the college recruiting process, and, after months of long, hard thinking, Rolon, who is being recruited to play on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, has decided to begin his reign as the king of the monarchy at Methodist University, which is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

With this being said, Rolon officially became a Methodist Monarch on Monday, April 25th as he signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his education and football career at Methodist, and he was exceptionally excited to do so as he showcased his Methodist gear with immense pride and honor during his special signing event.

In respect to his signing with Methodist, Rolon first noted the exceptional Criminal Justice program that Methodist offers, and this is a true testament to the academic pedigree that Rolon possesses, saying “I chose Methodist because of their high standards in their criminal justice program, and I felt that this was a great opportunity for me.”

Also, Rolon was sure to mention the inviting atmosphere that Methodist is known for as he went to say, “The campus feel made me feel welcome at home, and this was big for me.”

Rolon also gave high praise to Methodist’s coaching staff, and he illustrated the great deal of respect he holds for them, saying “The coaching staff supported me fully throughout the recruiting process, and they really made me feel like they wanted me.”

Furthermore, Rolon was also very modest and humble in regards to his signing, and he exhibited considerable humility, saying “I would like to thank my mother, grandparents, coaches, friends, and other family members for their support throughout the years. Without them, I would be in the position I am in today.”

Nonetheless, Rolon certainly has high hopes for his Monarch career, and he would like to maintain high standards foremost in the classroom and also the football field as he aspires to become both an Academic All-American and an All-American athletically as well. Additionally, Rolon clearly highlighted that academics were his main priority when he said that his prime goal at Methodist was to “meet the benchmarks set for him in the classroom and to achieve success academically.”

Moreover, Rolon noted how he would take advantage of the numerous academic support tools Methodist offers to help bolster his academic excellence, saying “Methodist has a notebook system, which makes sure that all football players plan out their schedules ahead of time, so they know if they have a test, quiz, paper or important assignment coming up. This will allow for an ample amount of time to study and prepare accordingly.”

Rolon went on to refer to several other academic support programs that Methodist offers as he went on to say “They also offer a writing center, which helps students write essays, plan it out, brainstorm, proofread, provide feedback before submitting a paper. The study programs they have for certain subjects are also great, and a tutor will assist you two-three times a week to ensure success in the classroom.”

On top of this, with football in mind, Rolon also mentioned how he would like to do all he can to better prepare and adjust himself to the collegiate game, saying “Going into camp on August 10th, I hope to gain strength, get faster, and adapt myself to the style of play at the college level.”

Likewise, Rolon also stated how he will use his flexibility as a player to help support his career, saying “My versatility will allow me to play on both sides of the ball, and I hope to win a starting position on either side this fall.”

With it all being said and done, Luis Rolon, who is a tri-sport athlete, playing football while competing in wrestling and track & field events as well, has represented Nash Central High School in a positive light on and off the field over the past four years, and to support this Rolon was recently a scholar-athlete by the Nash-Rocky Mount school district.

In regards to being awarded this tremendous honor, Rolon says “Recently, I was recognized as a scholar-athlete within the Nash-Rocky Mount school district. I feel that being a Student- Athlete is a difficult task, but it is not hard to fulfill if you put your mind to it.”
