The energy at Nash Central’s home football game this past Friday night definitely felt genuinely different. At the forefront, it was a night to honor and celebrate the lives of the victims and those affected by the 9/11 attacks, but there was also something special that contributed to the overall feel of the night. Along with the high-level of patriotism involved, the Maroon Maniacs added their unique touch to the vigor of the game.
Thanks to Nash Central’s pep club, an official student section was established, and the Maroon Maniacs, for all intensive purposes, were in full force on Friday night. The cheers were more enthusiastic, the claps louder, and the beats were pounding Maybe it had to do with the Maniacs jumping out of their seats at each Bulldog touchdown and first down or it could have been the simple game of bouncing a balloon and keeping it from touching floor that provided intensity to the game, but either way it would have impossible to count the the smiling and gleeful faces present Friday night. The Maroon Maniacs were also a versatile bunch, and they definitely didn’t let a little technical difficulty and delay ruin their nights. The Maroon Maniacs were cohesive from beginning to end, and moving a banner or two did all but damper the spirits of the vitalized Bulldogs student section.
As for the performance on the gridiron, Nash Central football made exceptional plays and their effort was clearly evident. However, in spite of hard fought game, the Bulldogs weren’t able to claim victory. The Bulldogs may not have won, but, in reality, it was undoubtedly a win in the hearts of all the Maroon Maniacs. It was a night and game that Nash Central students will always remember, and the inception of the Maroon Manics will assure that every Bulldog home football game and road game for that matter, is as hype, lit and live as Friday night’s game was.
