Nash Central Alum Honored

Jalen Hendricks, who graduated from Nash Central High School in June 2012 after an highly-decorated athletic career, was recently honored as the CIAA’s receiver of week. Hendricks is currently a senior wide receiver for Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Hendricks earned this accolade after catching for 159 yards and one touchdown in a week 1 49-6 smashing of Benedict College. The senior Blue Bear did this off of ten receptions.

Jalen Hendricks is no stranger to success. He was named the CIAA’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2014 after catching for a CIAA-high 71 receptions and 1,070 yards. Hendricks also led the CIAA in touchdowns with 12. Along with being named Offensive Player of the Year, Hendricks also earned All-CIAA honors.

While Hendricks has enjoyed a tremendous collegiate career, his high school athletic experiences were also second to none. Hendricks excelled as a quarterback and defensive back for the Bulldogs football program, and he was a All-Area and All-Conference caliber player. In addition, as a senior, Hendricks was named All-Area Defensive Player of the Year and All-Conference Offensive Player of the Year. On top of this, Hendricks was a key player for Nash Central’s basketball team, amazing in the back court as the starting shooting guard. Hendricks also called the outfield of Nash Central’s baseball stadium home during his days as a Bulldog, where he was a star center fielder.

To sum it up, Jalen Hendricks is just one of the many Bulldogs to reach the collegiate athletic level, and he is definitely optimizing every opportunity that comes his way.
