Meet A Bulldog: Sara Joyner

Whether it’s through athletics, academics, or the arts, Nash Central senior Sara Joyner has definitely stamped her distinct mark on Nash Central High School throughout the last four years.

Joyner competes in girl’s golf and swimming for the Nash Central Bulldogs, and her athletic efforts have certainly been exceptional. She is the only athlete in Nash Central athletics history to have the opportunity to compete at the state girl’s golf tournament on more than one occasion. Joyner made her first appearance at the state level as a sophomore in 2013 while making her second appearance this past October. As a swimmer, Joyner has also accomplished much as she had been a regional performer during multiple seasons.

In addition, Joyner unquestionably loves the aspect of being a fan of Nash Central athletics. When asked to share the athletic memory that stands out to her the most, Joyner responded by saying, ” No matter what sports team that I was on (swimming or golf), I always had friends to cheer on. Whether it was a teammate, coach-mate, conference-mate, or regional/state opponent, I was always cheering on the people I was competing with or against”. This clearly shows the level of maturity Joyner possess, and it is also a viable testament to her character. Joyner also referred to the friendships that she was able to forge while competing for Nash Central, saying “Not to mention that, over the course of four years, I have gained several unforgettable friendships and memories with people I have been blessed to meet along the way”. Furthermore, Joyner won’t rule out competing at the collegiate athletic level, and until she makes her college decision, she is definitely looking forward to keeping an open mind in respect her athletic future. Essentially, it is most definitely clear that being a Nash Central athlete has had a tremendous influence on Joyner’s life, and this is just another reason as to why Nash Central athletics is a positive force in the community.

Besides athletics, Joyner is heavily involved in the arts programs at Nash Central High School. Joyner is undoubtedly musically inclined, and this is evident by her participation in Nash Central’s Marching Band, Jazz Band, and all of the Concert Bands. Additionally, Joyner is a member of Nash Central’s Show Choir, chorus and has also been an active participant in Nash Central’s annual musicals. On top of music, Joyner is also a gifted artist. She is a member of the Nash Central Art Club and has also been inducted into the Art Honor Society. Joyner is also an active member in the local community as she sets aside plenty of time in her exceptionally busy schedule to help others through Special Olympics. As represented by her immense participation in the arts and community, it is certainly veritable to say that Sara Joyner is a well-rounded individual, who has a wide array of talents and interests.

Sara Joyner is simply one of the most multi-faceted students at Nash Central High School, and her varying passions have clearly flourished and thrived while being a Nash Central Bulldog.
