For Nash Central senior Luis Rolon, football is much more than just a sport, it’s truly a way of life.

Standing at 6’0 and 280 pounds, Rolon has been the anchor of both Nash Central’s defensive and offensive lines for the past few years in the capacity of a defensive tackle and an offensive guard, and he has also definitely been one of Nash Central’s most talented and gifted football players. Due to his successes on the football field, he has garnered much attention, and he was recently invited to compete and showcase his talents in front of Division I coaches from all over the United States at the Rivals camp.

Rolon spoke highly of the experience, saying that “It was really a life-changing experience doing drills and competing with some of the best players in the country”. It is certainly evident that Rolon was able to gain and benefit much from his attendance at Rivals camp, and this experience will unquestionably support his football career moving forward.

Besides, his selection to attend Rivals camp, what Rolon, who is also a member of Nash Central’s wrestling team, has been able to accomplish on the field of Nash Central High School is also exceptional. While Rolon has had several dominant games over his three-year varsity football career at Nash Central, his most prominent showing on the football field occurred during his sophomore season, which was his first year as a varsity starter for the Bulldogs. In a rivalry game against the Rocky Mount Gryphons, Rolon recorded a career-high 12 tackles while forcing two fumbles with recovering three other fumbles, and in regards to his performance, Rolon said that “It was a game I’ll never forget”. This game has certainly set tone for his highly-decorated career at Nash Central, and it has given Rolon the confidence to jump-start to his football career.

Rolon’s athletic accomplishments can be attributed to not only natural skill, talent and ability, but a strong and genuine work ethic. However, above all else, Rolon would credit all of his successes to his mothers who has undoubtedly played an instrumental role in his upbringing and achievements. Rolon says that “What drives me to success is my mother. She has raised me as a single parent and has persevered through good and bad times. Seeing her determination pushed me to succeed because I wanna make sure she retires early so she doesn’t have to struggle anymore.” From these sentiments, it is clearly apparent that Rolon has the correct motive and heart to succeed, and his ambitions in life are definitely well within reach when considering all the hard work and effort he exhibits through everything he does

In respect  to playing collegiate football, Rolon is a definite Division I prospect. He has garnered budding interest from East Carolina University, UNC-Pembroke, UNC-Charlotte, Methodist University, and Guildford College. With football season over, Rolon will now have ample time to think over his choices before possibly making his ultimate commitment on National Signing Day in early February. In addition to playing college football, Rolon will major in Criminal Justice as he hopes to pursue a career in the field of law enforcement.

All in all, Luis Rolon is unequivocally an exceptionally dedicated athlete, and if he continues on the current path that he is on, the end result of his journey in football will definitely be bright and prosperous
