Gaines Sign National Letter to Virginia Tech

NORTH CAROLINA  – Houshun Gains, senior from Nash Central High School, made his future evident Wednesday, February 4, 2015, by signing his NLI (National Letter of Intent). February 4th marks the first day that high school seniors could sign scholarship papers for the following sports: Football, Men and Women’s Soccer, Water polo (Mens’ only), and more.

The National Letter of Intent is a binding agreement between the student-athlete and a college, by which the student-athlete agrees to attend the college for one academic year.

Gaines, 6’4”/ 225 lbs. Defensive End, will be looking to continue his academic career at Virginia Tech and his athletic career playing Football for the Hokies. He hopes to play Defensive End or Linebacker.

Cheerleader and Coach gets Awards

Alex Lutz and Kiera Ausby have been named to the North Carolina Cheerleading All region team. They will compete in May for one of 36 spots on the NC East/West Cheerleading Team.

Nadiyah Powell was named the Female Student Athlete for the month of January.Bulldog Cheerleaders

Tiera Ausby won the 2015 Martin Luther King Memorial Speech contest.

Kiera Ausby was named Big East Cheerleader of the Year.

Tiara Battle and Nadiyah Powell were named all conference.

Amy Selner was named Big East Cheerleader Coach of the year
